Operation Safe Driver Week starts
Greenbelt, Maryland (Oct. 15, 2017) – The Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance’s (CVSA) Operation Safe Driver Week is this week, Oct. 15-21, 2017. Throughout the week, there will be heightened traffic safety enforcement and education aimed at combating dangerous driving behaviors by commercial motor vehicle (CMV) and passenger vehicle drivers. Enforcement personnel will identify and issue warnings and/or citations to drivers exhibiting unsafe driving behaviors on our roadways.

Happy Retirement Peter Vaudry!
After 33 years with the Alberta Motor Transport Association, Peter Vaudry has retired from the industry. In 1985, Peter began his career with the AMTA, and in his recent position as the Director of Member Services and Communications, was responsible for coordinating AMTA’s major events such as the Draw Down Dinners, Conference and AGM and golf tournaments. He also engaged with our Carrier Members and Associate Suppliers and was our liaison in keeping them updated and engaged with the AMTA.
CTA to Senate Committee: Truck driver is here to stay
CTA: The Canadian Alliance told a senate committee in Ottawa it welcomes the progression of connected and driver assist technology in commercial vehicles, but that such innovation will not come at the expense of truck drivers.

Updated: Truck turnaround plan for major ACI AMPS penalties extended
UPDATE: The Canadian Trucking Alliance has had another update from the Canada Border Services Agency that the truck turnaround option for major ACI AMPS penalties will be further extended to December 31, 2018 in the highway mode.
