In an annual meeting in December, the Task Force on Vehicle Weights and Dimensions Policy highlighted the many efforts achieved and/or underway that tie in with the Canadian Trucking Alliance’s (CTA) SMART approach to GHG regulations, reported the CTA.

Tell Ottawa Green Trucking Doesn’t Include Scrapping Excise Tax Rebate

An agreement is now in place between Ontario, Quebec, New Brunswick and Nova Scotia to harmonize requirements for long combination vehicles (LCVs). The move will allow intra-provincial carriers to transport goods more easily and efficiently across the four provinces while reducing fuel consumption and emissions.

18 Wheels of Christmas is launching its 14th season of working together with the transportation industry and the community to support food banks in the community

Although it’s likely the job of the over-the-road truck driver may evolve somewhat, it will not be eliminated or disappear in the age of autonomous vehicle technology, Canadian Trucking Alliance President David Bradley wrote in a letter to federal Finance Minister Bill Morneau, who was reported as saying certain occupations – namely trucking – would disappear in the future as a result of automation.
