Lethbridge College now offers Alberta’s exclusive International Coaching Federation (ICF) certified coaching program, delivering managers and leaders highly sought-after skills that can lead to a formal qualification. This unique program, the only one of its kind in Alberta, stands out for its remarkable value, providing participants with exceptional benefits at a fraction of the cost charged by other post-secondary institutions.

As of December 15, 2023, employers will be obligated to make clean and hygienic tampons and menstrual pads readily available to all employees at no cost. This proactive measure recognizes menstrual products as essential as toilet paper and soap, acknowledging their importance in maintaining the health and dignity of those who menstruate.

October 2023, Edmonton, AB – last week, AMTA was thrilled to attend Edmonton Region Hydrogen HUB’s State of the Province Hydrogen Luncheon to celebrate Alberta’s hydrogen economy, and it was an incredible event!

Our very own Terri Johnson, manager of Industry Advancement, spoke on AMTA’s actions in our province’s hydrogen economy and our collaboration with our incredible partners. All our initiatives and projects could not continue to move the needle on innovation without the involvement of many organizations.

By looking out for each other and working together, we can help keep our communities safe and prevent injuries and fatalities on or near railway property.

The CCLP (CITT-Certified Logistics Professional) designation is Canada’s logistics credential. It develops and certifies the industry-vetted competencies required to excel in today’s Canadian transportation & logistics industry.

Meet Charles Jones. Charles has been in the transportation industry for 32 years and has extensive experience as a class 1 truck driver with eight years of transportation safety coordinator experience. He has the National Construction Safety Officer (NCSO) designation, has upgraded his computer skills to an advanced level and has numerous transportation related certificates. Charles continues to be interested in learning and is focused on establishing himself in a new role within the transportation industry.

In April 2023, AMTA and Nikola Motor Corp. jointly announced the purchase of a Nikola Class-8 commercial vehicle, and it is now ready to hit the road in the hands of commercial carriers across the province.

AMTA+ Members, Diesel Tech Industries (DTI), is co-hosting a Hops & Hydrogen Networking event on July 6th with Edmonton Region Hydrogen HUB, and you’re invited!

The event will feature an introduction to the Edmonton Region Hydrogen HUB, a moderated panel discussion on DTI’s project partnership with Diversified Transportation, and networking opportunities with professionals across the region’s hydrogen value chain.

The Industry Task Force (ITF) Association is a collaborative organization established under the Societies Act in 1999, working towards positive changes in workers’ compensation matters in Alberta. The ITF represents the viewpoints of Alberta employers who are members of the association. The Alberta Motor Transport Association (AMTA) has been an active member of the ITF for several years and recently attended the June 14 quarterly meeting.

Meet Abdul Abed. He’s a skilled communicator who specializes in relationship building. Abdul is a strong trainer and mentor who takes pride in his ability to teach all types of learners. He has even trained trainers and managed training programs. His experience in administration and project management has given him the ability to adapt to changing requirements and problem solve his way around any obstacles in his path. Abdul is excited about finding an organization he can grow with and aims to be in a leadership role in the future.

The AMTA 2023 Professional Truck Driving Championship took place Saturday, June 10 on the sunny, albeit breezy, training area at the AMTA Edmonton location.
