RELEASE: Showing Personal appreciation for truck drivers during National Trucking Week
In collaboration with Sheriff Highway Patrol, Justice and Solicitor General, the Alberta Motor Transport Association (AMTA) will be hosting a series of Driver Appreciation Days between September 1st and 18th, to coincide with National Trucking Week.
Launched years ago, National Trucking Week was created in partnership with provincial transportation organizations such as the AMTA and the Canadian Trucking Alliance. Each provincial association hosts a variety of programs and/ or activities; from media campaigns and special features, contests, special promotions, and events and gift bags at truck stops and inspection stations.
The AMTA is pleased to be hosting Driver Appreciation Days at six Vehicle Inspection Stations (VIS) in the province where enforcement officers, industry partners, sponsors and volunteers will be on hand to meet and thank drivers, as well as hand out snacks, provide a gift bag and distribute small tokens of thanks.
“Truck drivers have always provided essential services to keeping the supply chain moving. COVID-19 has truly reinforced this and it’s humbling to see the ongoing outpouring of support that transportation and truck drivers have received during the pandemic. These folks work long hours away from home, carry huge responsibility for getting the job done safely, and are the ones that literally keep things moving on our roads,’ explains Chris Nash, President of the ATMA.
Driver Appreciation Days will run from 10:00 AM to 12:00 noon at the following locations.
September 1 – Strathmore Scale
September 3 – Atmore Scale
September 15 – Demmit, Medicine Hat and Coutts (north bound only) Scales
September 18 – Leduc Scale
