Fourth annual Western Women with Drive to be AMTA’s inaugural virtual event

For Immediate Release

Calgary, AB (October 8, 2020) – The Alberta Motor Transport Association (AMTA) in partnership with Trucking HR Canada is pleased to announce the fourth annual Western Women with Drive (WWWD) event will be presented virtually.

A spin of Trucking HR Canada’s annual Women with Drive event, WWWD serves to provide information, insight and networking opportunities pertaining to careers in the commercial transportation industry with a focus on women and other underrepresented groups.

“We wanted to ensure the 2020 program was relevant with industry and the world today,” explains AMTA President Chris Nash. “Sessions include millennials in the workforce, mental health and COVID-19 and workplace harassment.”

With gathering restrictions in place due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the association feels a virtual event allows for increased safety, and the ability to increase event attendance as this 2020 event can be enjoyed from the comfort of homes and offices across the west.

“As the industry prepares for life after COVID-19, fundamental issues such as the need for the increased representation of women in the transportation workforce remains a key concern,” says Trucking HR Canada CEO Angela Splinter. “We are happy to again partner with the Alberta Motor Transport Association in delivering Western Women with Drive, as we continue to shine the spotlight on this important issue.”

Western Women with Drive takes place Thursday, October 29. For more information, click here.
