Energy Efficiency Funding Opportunities – AMTA Members
Energy efficiency is focused on reducing costs, energy waste and/or finding ways to use less energy for the activity or task in question. Budget availability is a big driver for getting more organizations focused on these kinds of initiatives and more and more government funding is becoming available.
New Funding Opportunity
As AMTA’s energy partner, 8760 Expense Management wanted to highlight the availability of a new funding program that has been recently introduced for which many AMTA members could qualify. Emissions Reduction Alberta’s Strategic Energy Management for Industry (SEMI) program is designed to provide industrial and manufacturing facilities with knowledge, expertise, and training in energy management. The SEMI program will help you increase profitability by reducing energy costs, growing organizational skills and capacity building, and helping cover the cost of capital retrofits. Program parameters indicate $50 million in funding would be available for the following types of energy efficiency projects:
Manufacturing
Agriculture, forestry, fishing and hunting,
Mining, quarrying, and oil and gas extraction,
Utilities,
Construction,
Transportation, administrative and support,
Waste management and remediation services,
And transportation facilities in Alberta.
The funding includes the cost of conducting the required Energy Audits along with the actual implementation and/or retrofit, up to a maximum of 50% of the total costs.
Don’t delay! There are significant dollars available to companies that meet the eligibility requirements but it is important to get in the queue as soon as possible as these programs do tend to get oversubscribed rather quickly.
It is free to create an account and apply (https://www.eralberta.ca/semi/) and this will get members in "the queue", after which a SEMI program administrator will reach out to start the no-cost Facility Readiness Assessment (FRA).
