Release: AMTA announces 2020 award winners

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Calgary, AB (November 10, 2020) – Every year the Alberta Motor Transport Association (AMTA) recognizes individuals outstanding in the field of commercial transportation for their contributions to the association, safety, membership and the motoring public.

The association extends the utmost congratulations to the following individuals:

Associate Trades Award: Kevin Hamilton, Airdrie Registry
Historical Award: Paul Rubak, author Big Wheels Across the Prairies
Safety Person of the Year Award: Mark Dundas, Encore Trucking & Transport Ltd.
Driver of the Year: Leonard Wurz, Gateway Carriers Ltd.

In 2020, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, we saw Albertans come together to face unique challenges like never before. To celebrate this, the AMTA has introduced the Friend to Industry award for those who have supported industry through those trying times and beyond. The 2020 recipient of the Friend to Industry Award is Premier Jason Kenney.

“While we were unable to hold our traditional Awards Banquet in 2020, I am so proud to celebrate the achievements of these award winners,” says AMTA President Chris Nash. “Our award recipients are individuals who go above and beyond in the name of safety for the commercial transportation industry and the motoring public.”

In lieu of the 2020 Awards Banquet, award recipients will be thanked via personal phone calls with Nash, award packages and a social media campaign.

These awards wouldn’t be possible without our sponsors, GroupHEALTH, Highstreet Insurance Group, Volvo Trucks Canada and BFL Insurance.
