Alberta Transportation signs FPT MOU for Heavy Truck Weight and Dimension Limits

 
 

Alberta Transportation has announced the signing of the amended Federal-Provincial-Territorial Memorandum of Understanding (FPT MOU) for Heavy Truck Weight and Dimension Limits for Inter-provincial Operations in Canada. The FPT MOU applies to roads managed by the province only, municipalities in Alberta will continue to be able to restrict or approve weights on their local roads.

Alberta Transportation says a permit is now available under the amended FPT MOU to allow carriers to operate vehicles equipped with 445 mm new generation wide-base single tires at full dual weights and to operator stinger steer auto carriers to a height of 4.3 metres for hauling boats. Carriers interested in acquiring this permit can contact the Central Permit Office.
