Alberta Motor Transport Association (AMTA) celebrating Driver Appreciation Days at local vehicle inspection sites

MEDIA ADVISORY

Commercial drivers ensure we have what we need for our day-to-day lives, from the food on our shelves to the shoes on our feet, and AMTA’s annual Driver Appreciation Days are a small way to say, on behalf of all Albertans, ‘thank you.’

Driver Appreciation Days are part of National Trucking Week, a time each year when Canadians across this country recognize the many important contributions made by the 400,000+ professionals who, every day, ensure the safe and efficient transport of people and goods.

“Truck drivers have always provided essential services to keep the supply chain moving,” says Willie Hamel, AMTA acting president. “These folks work long hours away from home, carry huge responsibility for getting the job done safely, and are the ones literally – keep things moving on our roads.

AMTA staff and industry and community volunteers are gathering at eight provincial vehicle inspection stations this month to personally thank drivers and present them with gift bags supplied by our generous sponsors.
