AMTA's Professional Truck Driving Championship 2024 are back on June 1.
Volunteer and driver registration is now closed.
The Alberta Motor Transport Association has been celebrating commercial drivers with the Professional Truck Driving Championship for more than 70 years.
Commercial drivers ensure goods and services in Alberta get to where they need to go and this event serves to highlight the skillsets required behind the wheel. Drivers participate in one of four categories: Straight Truck, Tandem Single-Axle Pup, Tandem Bunk, and B-Train.
The Course
Right Angle Turn
Barricades indicate the curb. Drivers approach a stop sign and make a right turn avoiding obstacles.
Alley Dock
Simulates backing into a loading dock. Drivers have two opportunities to back in without disrupting the barricade.
Offset Alley
Drivers navigate an alley with varying offsets. No stops are permitted.
Serpentine
Testing a driver’s dexterity, the Serpentine sees trucks approach, then back through the positioned barrels.
Straight Line
Markers are placed in straight rows and drivers must travel the path without striking a marker.
Diminishing Clearance
Markers form a funnel-shaped entry, and drivers must proceed without striking a marker.
Stop Line
Barricades indicate the curb. Drivers approach a stop sign and make a right turn avoiding obstacles.
Bullseye
Drivers must align their bumper to the centre of a bullseye placed on the ground.
