Trucking HR Canada releases preliminary research findings on women in the sector

Mississauga, ON (March 8, 2023) Trucking HR Canada’s preliminary research findings released today reveal the trucking and logistics sector has more work to do when it comes to attracting more women to the workplace.

The first phase of a three-part research initiative took place February 17-25, 2023, with 1500 interviews. The research was conducted by Abacus Data for Trucking HR Canada, and today at its 9th annual Women with Drive Leadership Summit, David Coletto shared the following initial findings with attendees:

– 23% of women surveyed would consider a career in the trucking and logistics sector
– 56% of women surveyed don’t feel the trucking sector is welcoming to women
– 58% worry a lot about being harassed

While these initial findings present some concerns, 20% of women surveyed also indicated that they would reconsider a career in the sector if presented with different information about the sector.
This initial research will be balanced with additional surveys targeting employers and women working in the sector. A full report, including recommendations on how to attract and retain women to the industry, will be prepared and released in the Fall of 2023.

The employer survey is live in both official languages, and can be accessed here:
