Take notice of road bans/restrictions

  • Most secondary highways are limited to 75% or 90% of legal load limits.

  • Overweight on Ban Roads can result in very stiff penalties – usually $1.00 per pound over the allowable weight.

Be aware of those soft road shoulders!

Although most of the snow has melted and it appears the roads are dry, water is still sitting just below the surface in those ditches and shoulders are soft. It can be deceiving, appear dry, unless the weather in your area has been dry for an extended period, err on the side of caution.

• Ensure you are using approved pull out areas when and where you can

• Don’t get too close to the shoulder, it will pull you in

• Look for indicators, like tire tracks, moisture spots, sink holes

• Be cautious of large vehicles who are pulling over, slow down, back off

• Watch out for debris that may collect on those shoulders as well

That’s not the shoulder you want to cry on………
