AMTA April 2025 Driver of the Month: Clinton Millard, Precision Trucklines (Calgary, AB)
Bio Submitted
When I found myself laid off at Flexi Coil in Saskatoon, I had a major life choice to make.
My brother had been trucking for a while and seemed to like it. Plus, the fact that I had become friends with several truckers at our favourite watering hole, I figured, why not? I’ve always loved to drive, and considered myself pretty good at it, so I decided to get my license.
I got a full-time job with Calac Trucking in Saskatoon days after getting my 1A and honestly, never looked back.
I started out doing a split of city work and peddle runs. I highly recommend this type of work for those starting out, because you have to learn situational awareness-quickly. We had a great crew at Calac, and they taught me pretty much everything I needed to know to get me down the road safely. I ran overnighters to Saskatoon/Winnipeg & loved that run too, because I got to know lots of fellow drivers (via CB radio) and sharing stories and learning from them is a great part of trucking.
Coastal Pacific Xpress (CPX) based out of Calgary, purchased Calac, and promised they could keep me busy, even though I lived in Saskatoon, so I stayed on with them for several years, before moving to Precision Trucklines, where I have been for the past 16 years!
The best thing: I met the love of my life, Jennifer, at CPX!!! I moved to Calgary to be with her, and I have been with her, and Precision Trucklines ever since.
Dennis Garanito, the owner of Precision Trucklines , shares in & appreciates my loyalty, safety practices, and positive customer relationships & because of his “open door policy” has been there for me through tough times and tough situations. He knows how to handle any situation, remains calm and calms me down when needed…
I now do a run that takes me to British Columbia’s southern interior. Heaven on earth. The days are long, but I have great relationships with our customers, and it’s nice to know they hate when I take holidays!!
I spend most weekends & holidays with Jennifer at our trailer resort in Fairmont, B.C. We love it there, spending our time fishing, kayaking, and paddle boarding. We recently took up golf, (and suck at it), but it’s a fun way to get away from it all.
I have to thank Jennifer for showing me there’s more to life than work (even if I love trucking), and for supporting me when I am (delayed) on the road.
And - Thank You – Precision Trucklines for the nomination - it means a lot.
