FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Edmonton, AB – The Alberta Motor Transport Association (AMTA) held its 74th Professional Truck Driving Championship June 1 at the AMTA track at Edmonton International Airport.

The 34 professional driver competitors were judged on a written exam, pre-trip test, and the navigation of a course with eight stations in the categories of straight truck, tandem pup day cab, tandem bunk, and b-train.

As well as the driver competitors, the event is managed with the help of more than 80 volunteers.

“I would like to congratulate our participating drivers for competing in our 2024 event. Without commercial drivers, goods moved across Alberta wouldn’t move safely, sustainably, and efficiently get to where they need to go. The skillsets showcased in this event demonstrate how important safe, consistent drivers are to industry, and our province” said AMTA President Robert Harper. “As well, I would like to thank this year’s volunteers and sponsors, without whom this event would be possible.”
