Course Description:
AMTA’s Internal COR Auditor training is delivered in two parts to ensure participants are fully prepared to conduct high-quality audits using the COR process and AuditSoft tool.
Part One: Online Pre-Study
Before attending the in-person workshop, students must complete a mandatory eLearning module that introduces the COR audit process and the AuditSoft platform.
Part Two: In-Person Workshop
The second phase is a five-day, in-person workshop focused on practical skill development. Participants will work through audit elements, receive real-time feedback, and gain hands-on experience. Emphasis is placed on effective information-gathering techniques and the development of clear, professional auditor notes and reports that align with Partnerships in Injury Reduction quality assurance standards.
Important to Know:
- An AMTA Internal COR Auditor is certified to submit maintenance audits (only) on behalf of the organization they are employed by. If you are interested in becoming an auditor for the purpose of conducting audits for multiple different organizations, this is known as an External COR Auditor (organizations can contract you to perform an audit). If you have interest in becoming an External COR Auditor, please reach out to audits@amta.ca, as there are other requirements
- Many individuals take this training through AMTA for general knowledge/professional development, safety-related roles, or as an elective towards their designation. Please note, if you are taking this course with the intention of becoming a certified, Internal COR Auditor that is capable to conduct audits for their employer, please note the required steps below:
- Complete the Internal COR Auditor course (you will be issued a certificate for the training with a three-month expiration date, to allow for a qualification audit submission)
- Following the training, you will have 90-days to submit to AMTA a qualification audit
- AMTA will review the audit for quality assurance
- If the audit passes the quality assurance review, the auditor will receive their certificate acknowledging them as an Internal COR Auditor. This certificate will have an expiration date three years from the date the Internal COR Auditor training was completed. Internal COR Auditors must recertify every three years, as required by Government of Alberta’s, Partnerships in Injury Reduction (PIR) program, as long as the maintenance requirements of the three-year cycle are met
