Trucking remains an essential service as Canada-U.S. close borders to non-essential traffic
CTA Press Release: Prime Minister Justin Trudeau unequivocally stated that commercial truck drivers will not be impacted by new measures that will close the Canada-U.S. border to all non-essential travel.
CTA-ATA Urge Licensing & Permit COVID-19 Contingency Plans
CTA Release: As policy makers and industry stakeholders work together in stopping the spread of COVID-19 across North America, the Canadian Trucking Alliance and the American Trucking Associations spoke in one voice today in calling on governments on both sides of the border to consider contingencies in the event of government office shutdowns while ensuring cross-border traffic continues to function as efficiently as possible.
Feds recognize truck drivers as critical in fight against COVID-19
CTA News Release: The Canadian Trucking Alliance is commending the Federal Government’s declaration that commercial truck drivers are essential workers who will be exempt from the requirement to self-isolate for at least 14 days upon entering Canada from abroad.

CTA: US issues Limited Suspension of HoS Rules Related to Specific Commodities
Canadian Trucking Alliance: With President Trump’s deceleration of national state of emergency yesterday, it triggered a suspension of federal Hours of Service rules for interstate carriers under certain conditions – mostly related to the goods they haul. CTA has been forwarded some information this morning with clarifications related to this suspension. Please see below. As all items related to the issue , they are extremely fluid and CTA will do its best to provide members with updates as they occur.

At a national press conference March 11 in Toronto, Trucking HR Canada released The Road Ahead: Addressing Canada’s Trucking and Logistics Industry Labour Shortage.
Alberta Government announces provincial highway investments
In a release from the Alberta Government March 11, the Province said $5.7 billion over the next three years will be invested in maintaining and repairing highways and supporting water management and flood recovery projects, stemming from Budget 2020.
Province announces funding for Highway 881
In a recent release from the Alberta Government, the Province will spend more than $50 million over the next four years to add passing lanes, building a new rest area and improve intersections and turnouts on Highway 881 between Lac La Biche and Anzac.
