CTA: US issues Limited Suspension of HoS Rules Related to Specific Commodities
Canadian Trucking Alliance: With President Trump’s deceleration of national state of emergency yesterday, it triggered a suspension of federal Hours of Service rules for interstate carriers under certain conditions – mostly related to the goods they haul. CTA has been forwarded some information this morning with clarifications related to this suspension. Please see below. As all items related to the issue , they are extremely fluid and CTA will do its best to provide members with updates as they occur.

Alberta Government announces provincial highway investments
In a release from the Alberta Government March 11, the Province said $5.7 billion over the next three years will be invested in maintaining and repairing highways and supporting water management and flood recovery projects, stemming from Budget 2020.
Province announces funding for Highway 881
In a recent release from the Alberta Government, the Province will spend more than $50 million over the next four years to add passing lanes, building a new rest area and improve intersections and turnouts on Highway 881 between Lac La Biche and Anzac.
Transport Canada ELD clarifications
The AMTA has been informed, that with Transport Canada (TC) releasing further clarifications regarding electronic logging devices and their certification process once ELDs become mandated June 2021.

Trucking HR Canada has announced it will host a national press conference March 12 announcing the release of its Labour Market Information Report: The Road Ahead: Addressing Canada’s Trucking and Logistics Industry Labour Shortage.
Alberta Budget 2020 release: Staying the course on the path to balance
Following only four months after the 2019 release, it was expected there would not be a lot of changes to the prior budget plan. Finance Minister and President of the Treasury Board, Travis Toews, addressed delegates with the Calgary Chamber of Commerce on Monday, March 2 about the new release.
