New Research Findings: Labour Market Impacts of COVID-19 for Canada’s National Trucking Industry
On July 8, Trucking HR Canada released the second report in a series focused on assessing labour market impacts of COVID-19. This report includes updated insights of how COVID-19 is affecting trucking and logistics employment, and what can be expected for employers in the industry in the next three years. This second stage of the report presents a labour market forecast and shares results based on the ramifications of COVID-19. In the forecast, we learn that:
Province invests $120 million in completing Terwillegar Drive
As part of Alberta’s Recovery Plan, the government is investing up to $120 million to complete the expansion of Terwillegar Drive and upgrade other road infrastructure projects in southwest Edmonton said a July 8 Alberta Government press release.

CTA: The Canadian Trucking Alliance (CTA) reached out to the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) to obtain clarity on the types of questions border or health officials could ask truck drivers entering the country, as the Public Health Agency of Canada (PHAC) gained increased powers to ask for personal information, at the Canada-U.S. border through an Order in Council (OIC) on June 29.
