THE OPPORTUNITY
The commercial transportation industry depends on highly knowledgeable and skilled safety and compliance professionals who operate at the highest level of integrity in their chosen professions. AMTA is proud to partner with Samsara™, acknowledging a shared mission of improving road safety and compliance in the commercial transportation industry.
In 2026, Samsara™ is extending scholarships that will cover the cost of the eight (8) required courses comprising AMTA’s Certified Transportation Safety Professional (CTSP) to four (4) deserving safety and compliance industry professionals that meet the scholarship eligibility requirements.
SCHOLARSHIP ELIGIBILITY
- Applicant is employed by an AMTA Carrier/Subsidiary or Associate member company
- Applicant is not currently enrolled in or actively working towards an AMTA designation program
- Applicant meets the three-year experience requirement of the CTSP program
- Full completion of the program’s application process is required
APPLICATION PROCESS
AMTA’s Education team will vet applications submitted in ‘Part A’ (below). With just four (4) scholarships available, the first 25 ‘complete’ applications (all required documentation included), that meet the eligibility criteria above, will be shortlisted and contacted for Application Part B, as indicated below:

2. Application Part B: Video Submission
- Applicants advanced to ‘Part B’ will be emailed two questions which require a response in their video, along with a link to where they can submit the video to
- Applicants will not be judged on their videography skills – in other words, selfie-style works perfectly fine – we just want to hear from you directly!
TIMELINES
- February 23, 2026 – Application Part A: Program Application due
- March 13, 2026 – Application Part B: Video submission due
- April 23, 2026 – Scholarship winners announced at AMTA’s Annual Awards Gala
- Each scholarship recipient will receive one complimentary invitation to AMTA’s Annual Awards Gala on April 23, 2026, in Calgary, AB
(Please note: scholarship winners will be recognized and invited to the stage to accept their scholarship)
TERMS
- Scholarship students must complete the full CTSP program (eight required courses and three electives) and sit the designation’s general knowledge exam (GKE) by December 31, 2027
- Scholarship students must register for and complete a minimum of two required CTSP courses before the end of 2026
- If a student is unable to achieve a passing grade on a course exam, they will have two additional opportunities to re-write the course’s exam. If unsuccessful on both of these attempts, they will be required to retake the course, at their own expense
- Up to three equivalency requests will be accepted for review. Equivalency requests will only be accepted for elective courses of the CTSP program (not required courses). Equivalencies can be requested in the ‘Part A: Program Application’ package, linked above
