Light Duty Carrier Compliance 

The Light Duty Carrier Compliance course (formerly known as Option 4) is designed for drivers of mid-sized commercial vehicles (4,500–11,793 kg). 

This course helps drivers understand the rules they must follow and how to drive safely. It also teaches best practices to protect all road users. 

Important: This course includes mandatory virtual (online) proctoring and does not guarantee ticket cancellation. 

Ticket Cancellation Information 

Some learners may choose to apply to have a commercial vehicle violation ticket cancelled after completing this course. 

To apply, the following must apply: 

• • • You were driving a non-NSC vehicle 
    • The ticket was issued in Alberta 
    • The ticket was for a commercial vehicle-related offence (for example, cargo securement or trip inspection) 

Important: 

• • • Not all learners will be eligible 
    • Completing this course does not guarantee your ticket will be cancelled 
    • The Alberta Motor Transport Association (AMTA) cannot confirm if you are eligible 
    • The final decision is made by the appropriate authority 

Instructions for applying are included in the course. 

Proctoring Requirement 

This course uses virtual (online) proctoring for all learners. 

This means your identity is checked, and your activity is monitored while you complete the course. 

What You Will Need to Do: 

• • • Show a valid government-issued ID (such as a driver’s licence) 
    • Your ID is not recorded or stored by AMTA 
    • Stay visible on camera while completing the course 
    • Stay focused and actively work through the material (reading and answering questions) 

If these requirements are not followed, you may not be able to complete the course.
