In February of 2023, I decided to retire from 8 years as Health and Safety Manager for Pembina West Co-op (PWC). I have since opened adk Health and Safety Solutions, and I have started a career as the owner of my own company, adk Health and Safety Solutions. adk has focused on working as an external auditor for AASP as well as hoping to expand by an AMTA Consultant Auditor. I have completed several COR audits in a couple of months. I believe this experience has helped me develop my skills as an auditor, and I am able to produce high-quality audits.
During my 8-year tenure at PWC, I developed an H&S culture from the ground up. Our Co-op expanded from 75 team members to over 200 team members. I feel that I am familiar with your program as when I was developing the program at PWC, I often reached out to South Country Co-op for health and safety information already developed in your program. As H&S Manager for Pembina West Co-op, I was responsible for ensuring that we achieved and maintained our COR certification. I completed 6 internal audits and prepared for 3 external audits.
I have worked with several different H&S associations over my career. I first got certified as a Municipal H&S Officer through the AMHSA, and then I completed my National Construction Safety Officer Certification through ACSA. During my first three years at PWC, I completed Occupational Health and Safety Certificates at the University of Alberta. I have recently completed my Qualified Health and Safety Officer Certification and External Auditor Certification through AASP. In April, I was certified as a Canadian Registered Safety Technician.
