Compliance & Regulatory Affairs (CRA) Q3 Meeting 2025

    Hot Topics for Our Industry

Executive Briefing: Driver Inc. – Misclassification of Employees
Robert Harper, President, AMTA | Ashish Gill, Board Executive | Real Durand, Board Executive
Driver Inc. — the practice of classifying employees as independent contractors — is one of the industry’s most urgent compliance issues. It undermines fair competition, creates unsafe working conditions, and devalues the driver profession. Join AMTA leadership to hear how we’re tackling this challenge through advocacy, enforcement collaboration, and industry education.

Emissions Regulations & Vocational Truck Industry
Ganesh Srinivasan, Fleets Account Executive, Cummins Inc.
Upcoming federal emissions rules are reshaping truck availability, costs, and specifications. This session will outline what’s changing, what’s being lobbied, and how your fleet’s purchasing decisions may be affected. If you’re planning to order trucks in the coming years, this update is essential.

  • Record of Experience – Virtual Meeting

    Virtual

We’ve received notice the province is floating a proposed “Record of Experience” form for Class 1 drivers. To better understand what this means, AMTA is hosting a one-hour webinar to review the draft, walk through the sections, and capture practical carrier feedback that we'll compile and send to government.

    Details
    • Date: Monday, October 27, 2025, 2:00–3:00 p.m. MT
    • Host: Andy Barnes, AMTA, Sr. Advisor, Compliance & Regulatory Affairs
    • Audience: Alberta Carriers (please forward to your ops/safety leads) and associate members
    • Format: 10–15 min walkthrough, then Q&A and open floor for comments
    • Goal: Identify what works, what doesn’t, what’s missing, and more

    What we’re reviewing
The “Proposed Experience Information – draft (Sept 22, 2025)” form (vehicles/cargo classes, DG classes, environments, operations range, training categories, etc.). I’ll screen-share the draft and take notes live.

    Why this matters
If this becomes a standard, it’ll land on safety desks and HR desks across the province. Let's work together to ensure clarity.
