I have been employed by Precision Trucklines since June of 2022 and currently haul groceries from a distribution centre to retail stores in Saskatchewan, Alberta and British Columbia.
My inspiration to become a truck driver began many years ago as a young boy growing up on a farm in rural Manitoba. I eventually gained my Class 1 license in 1987 and have been working in the industry ever since.
I have seen the industry evolve from a notebook, paper logs, a road atlas and a truck stop pay phone; to the technologies of today with ELD’s, GPS and cell phones.
Trucking has been a stable and reliable source of income for me, and I never had to look very long or very hard for employment. A good safety record always opened a door when the present one closed…within a few days.
I would like to thank Lorri, our Safety Manager at Precision Trucklines, for sending in the application for this award. I know there are 1000’s of drivers, like me, working hard everyday in all kinds of environments-that do not and will not get the recognition they deserve for the job they do.
I would also like to thank AMTA for allowing me the opportunity to be recognized.
If I were to give any advise it would be – “to be successful in todays trucking world you must have a real passion for the job & the trucking industry, a good work ethic and always conduct yourself in a safe and courteous manner”. A mistake behind the wheel can be life altering…
Thank You
Don Lee
