Nathan’s interest in trucking started early, growing up in southern Saskatchewan around construction crews and drivers through his dad’s work. He’d tag along on runs down to the border and get picked up by his parents, never realizing at the time how much those trips stuck with him. His career took a few turns over the years – spending about 15 years in oil and gas, then ranching – but trucking was always in the back of his mind. In 2018, he finally got his license and started hauling equipment and bales for a sugar beet farmer, which confirmed he’d found the work he was meant to do.
Nathan joined Steve’s Livestock five years ago, drawn to the company because of shared values. Nathan is known for strong communication, following procedures and a focus on making things better. This showed clearly when he was first on the scene at a rolled trailer last year, staying all day to help coordinate with law enforcement, a Hutterite colony, and other responders. Outside of work, Nathan ranches, spends time with his family and leans on his faith in Jesus Christ. For him, his job is more than just hauling and making money. His “one more load” motto is about taking things one step at a time and giving others hope, something he’s proud to share with the people he meets along the way.
