Small Employer Certificate of Recognition (SECOR)

SECOR is designed for companies with 10 or fewer employees looking to strengthen their safety culture and meet Alberta OHS standards. Through AMTA’s guided training and evaluation process, small businesses can build a compliant health and safety system, earn recognition, and maintain certification through annual audits. SECOR is valid for three years with ongoing maintenance.

To Achieve SECOR

Step 1: Register your company in the WCB Partnerships in Injury Reduction Program

Step 2: Successfully complete the AMTA’s 2-day Health and Safety System Building (HSSB) course

Step 3: Successfully complete the AMTA’s half-day Self-Evaluator Course

Step 4: Develop and implement a health and safety management system that meets provincial OHS standards

Step 5: Audit your company’s health and safety management system and a achieve a passing mark (80% overall with no less than 50% in any one element) and submit to the AMTA for review

A minimum audit review fee of $200 is applied to non-members

To Maintain SECOR

Conduct and submit an Annual Maintenance Audit and submit to the AMTA for review. Failure to submit a maintenance audit within the calendar year will result in cancellation of your SECOR.

The SECOR is valid for three years from the date of issue, providing that all maintenance audit requirements are met. The date the audit is completed on site in the certifying year, is the SECOR issue date.
